Madrid Airport Shuttle

Whenever you need a dependable and reasonably-priced transfer to or from a major airport, look for available airport shuttle operators. Shuttle buses allow you to lower your costs by sharing the ride with other passengers. They are more affordable than taxi services and more convenient than public transportation. When it comes to Madrid Airport shuttles, we singled out the best option and listed hotels with complimentary shuttle transportation.

Exprés Aeropuerto is the airport express shuttle service that runs around the clock. So, it’s available during the daytime and nighttime alike, which is great for passengers with night flights. The direct shuttle bus service is the go-to choice for anyone going from Madrid Barajas Airport to the city center (or any location along the way).

The shuttle bus ticket is as low as €5 per person. Several methods of payment are available: in cash on the bus, via major credit cards, or using your mobile phone. Shuttles stop at Terminal 4’s Arrivals, Terminal 2, Terminal 1, O'Donnell, Plaza de Cibeles, and Atocha Station. They depart from Atocha Station during the daytime and Cibeles Station after 11:30 PM.

Hotel shuttles are perfect for all travelers who want to stay in a nearby hotel, especially if you still haven’t booked a room. Ridesharing & Taxi Service

App-based transportation providers have become quite popular in major European cities, and so Uber provides convenient transfers to all Madrid Airport passengers. Ridesharing isn’t as inexpensive as the Madrid Airport shuttle, and the Uber fares are similar to taxi fares. The pick-up spot at MAD depends on your terminal — after requesting the ride, the app will guide you to your driver. If going from Madrid Airport to the city center, the price will be around €30.

As we’ve said, taxi cabs at Madrid Airport are as budget-friendly as transportation network companies. So, if you have trouble choosing between the two, note that the price difference is insignificant. However, taxis are easier to access since they are always available in front of the Arrivals areas. Most taxi vehicles accommodate up to 3 passengers and offer the most convenient door-to-door transportation. There’s a fixed rate of €30 for any location within the Madrid city center.

Private Car Services

Private transfers are the most suitable for business travelers or anyone who wants a comfortable ride for some special occasions. Convenience comes at a cost, and this is the most expensive option. Mad Shuttle is one of the best private airport transport providers for both single travelers and groups. The company offers a large fleet of vehicles and services to/from Madrid Airport, as well as numerous other locations. Sixt also provides the black car service and a wide range of vehicles. They have professional drivers, fixed rates, and a simple booking system. Book a private ride for a hassle-free experience and start your journey without worries.

Public Transportation

If traveling on a budget and searching for a low-cost transfer service, public transit is the right choice for you. Fortunately, several public transportation options are available at MAD, including buses, metro, trains, and intercity buses. Depending on your final destination, choose one of the services below.

City buses are very affordable and accessible at all airport terminals. The public bus route 101 runs from T1, T2, and T3 to the Canillejas Transport Hub. A single bus ticket costs €1.50, but you can purchase a 10-trip ticket that costs €12.20 and lets you travel anywhere within Zone A. The city bus route 200 picks up at all terminals and runs to the Avenida de América Transport Hub. The bus fare is the same.

Metro line 8 runs between the Nuevos Ministerios station, which is located in central Madrid, to the airport terminals. The ride takes only 12 to 15 minutes, and this is the fastest way to reach the central part of the city. It stops on Floor -1 of Terminal 4 and Floor 1 of Terminal 2. A single ticket price is as low as €4.50 (for up to 5 stops; €0.10 for each additional stop). The ticket allows you to travel between Madrid Airport and any Metro/ML1 station in Zone A.

A couple of train lines serve the airport and can take you to many locations in the area. Line C1 runs from Terminal 4 to the city center and stops at Atocha, Recoletos, and Chamartín. Line C10 operates from MAD to the city center and Villalba. The airport train station is on Floor -1 of T4, and a one-way ticket is €2.60. Passengers can also purchase a pass for 10 one-way journeys or a monthly pass.

For intercity transfers, head to the Arrivals area (Floor 0) of T4, where several intercity buses pick up passengers every day. Hop on Bus Route 827 to reach Tres Cantos, Alcobendas, or San Sebastián de Los Reyes. Route 828 also runs to Alcobendas and Universidad Autónoma, while Route 822 can take you to Coslada and San Fernando de Henares. If you want to reach Alcala de Henares, use Bus Route 824 that departs from Terminals 1 and 2.

Rental Car Services

Car rental companies at Madrid Airport are usually available at Terminal 1, but their location is currently changed due to covid-19; they are now placed in the P4 car park (T4). To reach this terminal, use the free inter-terminal shuttles that run around the clock. Contact one of the following car hire agencies for bookings: Avis, Sixt, Hertz, Firefly, Enterprise, Goldcar, Europcar, and InterRent. Use the most flexible transportation option to explore this beautiful city on your own schedule.
