Beware of scamming drivers trying to cheat you out of money. I have used Super Shuttle all across the country, but only the the SS at John Wayne Airport has ever charged me for an extra bag fee, even when I use another Super Shuttle just hours before when flying out with the exact same luggage and was not charged. The first time, was back in July, and an older middle eastern man harassed me and refused to load my bags unless I paid him in cash $10. I contacted SS during my ride and they told me they never had such a policy and refunded me with an apology. The second time was in Nov and an older asian driver pulled the same thing when picking me up from the airport. Despite telling him the SS that drove me to the airport didn't charge me, and my experience a few months ago, even showing the email correspondence with SS costumer service he still refused to drive me until I paid. I paid in cash and he finally drove me, however he drop off every other passenger first and dropped me off last despite my hotel being the first we passed. He then held my bags hostage until I paid, even though I already did in cash. I told him he could just charge my charge if it was a legitimate charge. The entire time he was saying if I complained to "corporate" they would refund me anyways. It seemed these two drivers wanted cash because it was nonrefundable (I guess they treat it as tip) and kept telling me I would get a refund if I "complain". I felt bad because the hotel bellhop when he saw the driver was not unloading my bags tried to help but was yelled at by the driver until I paid. I also contacted Super Shuttle anyways and was quickly refunded. I questioned why this only happened at this Super Shuttle location when I used them in Austin, Philly, Baltimore, Salt Lake, Dallas, San Diego, San Francisco, and many other locations this year alone, and sometimes with more luggage, yet it was only at this location that they charged me. I was told this was out of the ordinary, not their policy, and they would look into it. But I never heard back, though was refunded for both situations. If you have a driver (older middle eastern or asian) try to cheat you out of money for some made up charge, make sure to report them as well.
