Riga International Airport
This is the largest airport not only in Latvia but also in all three Baltic states. It offers direct flights to over 100 destinations. The airport code is RIX, and it is located in the Marupe Municipality, about 6 miles away from the city center. RIX served more than 7 million passengers in 2018.
When you arrive at Riga International Airport, you can use various services - duty-free shops, banks, currency exchange, bars, and cafes if you want to grab a drink before your flight. There is also an assistance team to help any passenger with reduced mobility, and they can even provide a wheelchair.

If you’re looking for a ride from Riga Airport to the city, the cheapest option is definitely public transport - a bus ticket is 2€ (or even less if you purchase it in advance). Taxi service and private transfers are more expensive, but you can reach the city faster. The taxi ride (15-20€) takes about 20 minutes, while public buses have a bit longer journey time. Bolt is an app-based taxi that is even cheaper, it should cost you about 10€. If going to a downtown hotel, use Airport Express hotel shuttle for 4.99€.

Riga Airport Taxi
Taxi services are available at Riga Airport at any time of the day or night. You can find any taxi driver outside the arrivals area. The following taxi services are recommended:

The average taxi fare from RIX to the city center or Old Town is 15-20€. Taxi rates should be indicated on every vehicle’s rear door, so you should check them out before you start your ride. This is one of the most used Riga Airport transfers.
Public Transportation
There are several bus lines serving RIX Airport, which is great for those looking for very cheap Riga Airport transfers. However, note that you won’t have any luggage assistance, so this is not an ideal option if you carry a lot of luggage.
- The fare for all routes below is 2€ or 1.15€ if you buy it in advance. Tickets can be purchased at several places: Arrivals Hall E Information bureau, retail outlets at Level 1/2, and the bus stop vending machines.
Bus no. 22 can take you to the city center for up to 30 minutes. It runs every 15-20 minutes, so you won’t wait for it long whenever you come. The bus stop at RIX is located behind the car park P1, opposite to Arrival E.
Express Minibus no. 322 has the same route as the bus 22 but doesn't stop as often.
Minibus no. 241 is a good choice if you want to visit the Botanical Garden or Museum of Art.
There are several international buses as well:
- TOKS: to Vilnius, Tallinn, Minsk, and Warsaw;
- Lux Express: to Tallinn, Vilnius, St. Petersburg, and Warsaw;
- Ollex: to Klaipėda and Siauliai;
- Kautra: to Kaunas;
- Klaipedos: to Klaipėda;
- Dautrans: to Daugavpils and Vitebsk.
